Suction/intake side

• 1 - ½ hp utility pump (with strong self-priming capability)
• 1 - Leaf trap/priming pot with 2” inlet/outlets and 2” gasket
• 1 - ¾” x 2” brass nipple - (from pump to leaf trap bushing)
• 1 - ¾”female pipe thread x 2” male glued bushing - (from nipple to leaf trap outlet adapter)
• 1 - 2” female glued x 2” male threaded adapter to leaf trap – (leaf trap has special non-standard thread, adapter normally comes with leaf trap)
• 1 - 2” male pipe thread x 1” female pipe thread bushing - (leaf trap inlet bushing)
• 1 - Male/female set of 1” “CamLoc” fittings with threaded female ends - (leaf trap inlet to flex pvc)
• 1 – 10ft of 1” flexible PVC pipe (not PVC hose). The flexible PVC works in standard PVC fittings and can be glued, the hose does not.
• 1 - Small can of “Christy’s Hot Glue” or similar all-purpose glue
• 4 - 1” PVC male adapters – (for gluing on flexible and sch 40 pipe ends)
• 1 - 6 inches of clear PVC pipe - (for viewing window), not 1 ½” clear acrylic tubing
• 1 - 1 ½ male glued x 1” female threaded bushing - (flex pipe to “Fernco” fitting & 45)
• 1 - 1 ½” “Fernco” fitting - (1 ½ flexible pipe PVC bushing to clear PVC pipe)
• 1 - 1 ½” PVC 45 fitting - (clear PVC goes on one side, 1 ½ male glued x 1 female threaded bushing goes on the other side)
• 1 - 1 ½ male glued x 1” female threaded bushing - (45 fitting to 1” sch 40 pipe)
• 1 - 6ft of 1” sch 40 PVC pipe - (for vacuum wand)
• 1 - 1” female threaded x 2” male glued bushing - (on sch 40 pipe end to brush)

Discharge/waste side

• 1 - ¾” Brass nipple
• 1 - ¾” female threaded x 1 ½” male threaded bushing
• 1 - 1 ½” female hose barb fitting
• 1 - Roll of 1 ½ drain hose

Instructions

Suction/intake side

1. Attach the leaf trap to the inlet of the pump - Thread ¾” x 2” brass nipple into the pump inlet, then thread a ¾”female pipe thread x 2” male glued bushing on to the brass nipple. Glue the 2” male side of the bushing to the 2” female glued x 2” male threaded adapter to leaf trap. The leaf trap adapter is a special fitting with a non-standard thread that should have come with the leaf trap. Install 2” gasket (should have come with the leaf trap) and then attach the 2” outlet side of the leaf trap to the 2” adapter.
2. Attach 1” “CamLoc” fitting to leaf trap - On the inlet side of the leaf trap, thread in a 2” male pipe thread x 1” female pipe thread bushing. Then thread in a 1” male pipe thread x 1” male “CamLoc” fitting.
3. For the flexible PVC pipe assembly, start with an appropriate length of 1” flexible PVC pipe and glue a 1” male adapter on each end. (I use “Christy’s Hot Glue”). Then thread the female “CamLoc” fitting to one end and attach it to the male “CamLoc” on the leaf trap. On the other end of the flexible PVC pipe, thread on a 1” threaded female x 1 ½” glued male bushing.
4. Next attach the flexible PVC pipe assembly to 1” sch 40 PVC vacuuming wand
5. Next assemble the sch 40 pvc pipe vacuuming wand assembly with viewing window - use a rubber 1 ½ “Fernco” coupling to attach the 1 ½ x 1” bushing on the flexible pipe assembly to a 6” piece of clear pvc pipe. This gives us a viewing window.
6. Next glue the other end of the clear PVC pipe in to a 1 ½” PVC 45 fitting. On the other side of the 45 fitting, glue in a 1 ½ male glued x 1” female threaded bushing.
7. Now decide how long you want your vacuuming wand to be, cut the 1” sch 40 PVC pipe to your desired length and glue a 1” male adapter on one end. Thread this in to the 1 ½ x 1 bushing in the 45 fitting.
8. On the other end of the sch 40 pipe, glue on a 1” male adapter and thread it into a 1” female thread x 2” male glued bushing. Using some wide vinyl waterproof tape, attach the brush or your favorite vacuuming tool. The brush and the bushing are the same outside diameter, so they must be taped together.

Discharge/waste side

1. Thread the ¾” brass nipple into the pump discharge, then thread the ¾ female threaded x 1 ½ male threaded bushing on to the nipple, then thread the 1 ½ female hose barb fitting in to the bushing and attach the 1 ½” drain hose.
